GBDF is delighted to announce a new GBDF Men team manager to lead the team in their quest for Gold at 2017 Deaflympics in Samsun, Turkey. We would like to welcome Dean Humphreys aboard as the new GBDF Men team manager.

Dean has lots of experience at Deaflympics in various roles, as Assistant Manager when GBDF Men won the gold in 2005 and then again in 2009 in Tawain as a coach. His overall record as member of the team reads as: played 12 won 10 drawn 1 lost 1. Dean will be assembling his backroom team shortly to take on the challenge of maintaining his fantastic record at Deaflympics and to instil medal winning ethos into the Men’s team.

GBDF Chair said ‘We are excited with Dean’s appointment for he has excellent record of bringing the best out of players, extensive knowledge of football and has unrivalled experience at Deaflympics level. Dean has been given a remit to lead GBDF Men to 2017 Deaflympics to win medals which we believe he and the team is capable of doing’.

Dean said ‘I am very much looking forward to this challenge and the prospect of assembling a squad that is capable of winning medal at Samsun. As time isn’t on our side, I urge every Deaf football players, club, organisations and supporters to get behind Great Britain to help us prepare our Deaf footballers, financially, physically and mentally in order for them to achieve their potential and win medal at the Deaflympics’.

GBDF looks forward to an exciting and challenging year in the run up to Deaflympics which will be difficult in the face of financial uncertainty where the teams needs to raise about £50,000 per team to participate at the Deaflympics.
